KNUST Optometry Student Receives an Undergraduate Research Grant to Fund Final Year Dissertation

Isaiah Osei Duah Junior is an enthusiastic research-oriented final year optometry student from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. The latter has become the department's first student recipient of the TiDi Foundation Undergraduate Dissertation Research Grant and one of three recipients of the 2021 version.

The award funded novel research proposals with a robust study design, well-written, scientifically feasible, or theoretically rigorous and geared towards tackling a particular issue. Isaiah's proposed project sought to investigate the Bacterial etiology of external ocular and periocular infections and antimicrobial susceptibility patterns in the Ghanaian population. His study will receive estimated funds of one thousand Ghana cedis for the purchasing of test kits.

The TiDi Foundation is a non-profit registered aiming to improve undergraduate research output in Ghana and other West African countries in a way that helps to advance the socio-economy of the sub-region.
