Ten Gallant Doctor Optometry Students from The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Grab a Highly Ranked American Academy of Optometry Student Fellowship

Ten outstanding students from the Department of Optometry and Visual Science of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have secured a Student Fellowship Honors from the American Academy of Optometry (AAO). The said recipients are Isaiah Osei Duah Junior, Naa Adorkor Lomotey, Ben-Nathaniel Fosu, Joycelyn Arko Arhin, Earl Boadi Appiah, Lucy Akua Afriyie Karikari, Benjamin Baah Konadu, Christabel Arthur, Ewura-Ama Horthman, and Adwoa Owusuwaa Broni.
The Student Fellowship program provides a unique opportunity for students to engage in cutting-edge research and enhance their knowledge of modern technology deployed in eye care through lectures, workshops, poster presentations, and many more.
Despite the unique challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, these students made significant steps to engage in the primitive virtual annual conference meeting of the AAO from home. The 2020 Student Fellowship program saw students complete pre-specified milestones, including papers, posters, symposia, ground rounds, rapid-fire, and exhibition hall sessions.
On February 8, 2021, the AAO, through Dr. Kwadwo Owusu Akuffo, a faculty member of the Department of Optometry and a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, presented to the deserved fellows certificates and lapel pins. The students have been granted complimentary registration for AAO Annual Meeting 2021, which will take place from November 3-6, 2021, at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, Boston, USA.

Congratulation, Fellows, and keep up the good works!
